Chiropractic Care focuses on any condition that involves the muscular, skeletal or nervous system. This includes injuries to ligaments and tendons and joints.

Chiropractic care is well known for treating low back conditions, including the pelvis; but chiropractors also treat the knee, shoulder, wrist, ankle, hip, neck and upper back.

Low Back Conditions

There are a number of injuries of the low back that can be successfully treated by chiropractic care. In certain conditions the pain is located around the low back area. In other conditions the pain can be accompanied by numbness and tingling that may travel part, or all of the way, down the leg.

Knee

The knee is one of the largest joints in the body and throughout its daily activity has, one moment, to be fully flexible and then, immediately after, firm and rigid, to take the full weight of the body. To deal with this dynamic joint, the knee is served by numerous ligaments. It is common to sprain or strain one or more of these ligaments. Chiropractic treatment can reduce any inflammation and improve the strength of the injury.

The Shoulder

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body and, as a result, requires co-ordinated movement between the joint, associated ligaments and various muscle groups aligned to the shoulder.

Osteoporosis is one of the most prevalent skeletal conditions of postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis effects the bone density of the skeleton. The early detection of the presence of osteoporosis can have immense benefits to the sustainability of the integrity of the skeleton through the later decades of life.

Neck Pain

Neck pain can originate from the neck, the head, the shoulder, upper or lower back. The chiropractor's holistic assessment enables the location of the cause to be diagnosed quickly and the appropriate treatment to undertaken.

Acute Neck Stiffness

Stiffness of the supportive muscles of the neck will cause restrictions in the movement of the neck. This lack of function in the neck can cause injury in the joints or other soft tissues. Chiropractic treatment will relax the musculature, increase the range of motion of the neck joints and thus reduce the symptoms felt. The use of specific exercises will enable the patient to help in the management of the symptoms both in the short term and to mitigate against the likelihood of the symptoms returning.

Headaches and Migraine

The vast majority of headaches arise from problems in the neck. There are numerous causes of migraines. In many cases chiropractic care not only resolves the onset of migraines but also gives the patient appropriate instruction on how to mitigate future problems.

Whiplash

The symptoms that lead to a diagnosis of whiplash, are well understood by chiropractors. Ligaments and muscles and other soft tissues of the neck have been sprained or strained. The speed of the impact will have a direct effect on the exact tissue that is damaged and the severity of injury. Chiropractic treatment will assist to improve the movement of the damaged muscles and soft tissues and thus reduce the pain levels and improve the mobility of the neck. The chiropractors ability to manipulate the injured joints of the neck at the appropriate time helps to speed up the recovery from whiplash injury.

Acupuncture / Dry Needling

Both our chiropractors are trained in the use of acupuncture as part of the treatment process for musculoskeletal conditions. In general acupuncture/ dry needling is used to reduce the level of pain.
